That's way out of line for them to even suggest such an authoritarian plan. There's hardly anybody left on the big lake and they've already taken far too much from the few that remain.

Everybody in the region is entitled to the fish in Lake Superior. Those who can't go and catch their own need someone to go out there and catch them for them. That's the commercial fishermen of Lake Superior. To shut down some prime fishing months is to take fresh fish away from a huge segment of the population. I'm not sure what they are trying to fix with this destructive idea.

The fishermen of Lake Superior must come together and make their voice be heard loud and clear that this is ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE. The Great Lakes commercial fishermen by their nature are tough and independant. These are admirable qualities but they're destructive traits when other groups organize against us.

Send word to all Lake Superior license holders that this is a call to arms that must be addressed. It may be imperative to come together as a team to ensure a future for your business.

Every license holder, crewman. fish market owners. fish transport drivers, families of fishermen, twine and net sellers, nightclub owners that count on their fish fry business and just regular folk who love to eat fresh fish. Gather at their meeting and show them just how many people they are affecting. Make it known in no uncertain terms that's this is a bridge too far. We the people will not bullied into giving up our natural rights to eat OUR fish..

I hope a strong showing goes in and speaks. If that doesn't happen they will push this through unopposed.

It sound like you have some self serving fishermen who are very vocal at these meetings. We have them around here too. We have had them for many years. They pretend they are spokesmen for the good of the entire commercial industry but they are not.

Their real mission is to push laws, restriction, quotas, limits and zones. The only problem is.....these rules that these big hearted humanitarians are selling only serve them. They care not about what's best for the fisheries. They care only to squeeze out others while they reap the rewards of their underhanded, vile schemes.

History knows their kind well and thankfully it never remembers them very fondly. I'm very sorry to hear that you too have these kind of people among you on Lake Superior. No man with integrity is going to push for laws that limit his fellow fishermen where no law exists.

I take back what I said in an earlier post about the greed of the sportsfishermen. We have them in our industry and they're even worse. The sportsmen at least don't stab a fellow sportsman in the back.

I'm going to pin this at the top of the forum for a while because I think it's important.

exactly our conservation is only worried about their selves and among the smaller crews they make it harder on us not everyone can fish and be a ceo at a casino the real fisherman who are risking their lives day after day find the fish then these guys come in with all their gear and line us then make up rules at the next meeting about being 50 ft from another fisherman and then laugh in our faces when we lose gear but it is the littler fisherman around me that find fish then when the bigger fisherman hear where making a couple bucks come line us with their gear that is only set about 90 days the whole season.
