Over the last month, we here at were lucky enough to be invited out to interview one of Lake Michigan's most noted fishermen, Andy LaFond Sr. He started working on his father Leland's boat out of Milwaukee at a young age ,some 60 + years ago. They moved their operation to Algoma Wi. in the 70's .For decades his dock, net shed and fish market at the base of the bridge in Algoma were a much photographed and iconic scene of the city itself. Although he sold his operation 15 years ago with the collapse of the chub population , as did many others, he still fishes regularly with his son Andy Jr. out of Kewaunee. With all his decades of experience on the water we are very pleased he has taken part in our commercial fishing documentary.
He is highly opinionated and rightfully so , as most of his observations about fishing the lake are spot on. He has what government agencies with their rooms full of staff most often don't, a Lot of Common sense. For all that we here Say a booming THANKS ANDY.

He is indeed a most entertaining gentleman. I love the segment where he calls out the captains on "Deadliest Catch" He pretty much calls them wussies and says he'd come up there and do their jobs for them. Classic Andy right here.
