Archived Pictures Mostly The Big Burgers 60s 70s

Postby Points North » Tue Mar 29, 2016 10:27 pm

Here's just a small part of an archive I got into from a southern university.

McDonald Bros Ice.PNG
It looks like even with the old Kahlenburg 75-90 she knew no mercy when ice was present.

John LeClair's LeClair Bros. from a 1973 picture in Naubinway,Mi.

The 'Bossler Bros" looking like she's fresh out of the Burger yard. Bad ass looking tug.

The "Penguin" in Naubinway in the 1970s. Great picture of one of Burger's best.

Those sure are some nice looking boats. They were some fine craftsmen at Burger Boat. I would venture a guess
and say I bet over 95% of those Burger boats built in the Mid 30's to mid 40's are still in service to one capacity or another.

They are original in design. You can look at one and know it's a Burger right away. Like a great artist or musician with a distinct style they have a trademark look and are quickly identified as a Burger. There were other builders who made great boats,, some maybe even build heavier but they weren't Burgers. Whoever that guy a the drafting board was who drew out that first design was someone who I would loved to have met. To me he's equal to the guy who drew out the first Corvette.

The fact that you can take a Honda and pour a lot of money into it and make it as fast or faster than a Corvette means nothing. It's still just a car and they don't write songs about Hondas. Very much like the Burger in many ways.
