The Betty Ann in Suamico,Wi. These fish tugs on the lower Green Bay waters are primarily used in the Perch fishery. See the extended and growing gallery at app.php/gallery/album/2

Image
http://www.fishtug.com/ The Betty Ann is typical of the smaller fish tugs in the bay of Green Bay. The hulls have less draft for shallow water Perch fishing and for docking well up the rivers.

The fishery here employs a variety of boat designs. The lines are not from traditional shipyards in the area known to build fish tugs. There's little doubt some were designed and constructed by the original owners.

These are not really in the Green Bay Waters. They are located along highway 29 West of Green Bay. They are used as a tourist exhibit near Shawano,Wisconsin. It's sad to see fish tugs retired from the fleet never to return to the fishing grounds. It's even worse when they are used as a petty exhibit. The fact that they are still usable adds to the insult.
