Re: Old Post Cards And Newspaper Clippings (Algoma/Door County

A Green Bay Press Gazette article from June, 5, 1977. Addressing the issue of illegal black market Lake Trout harvest. It really doesn't address anything. The person interviewed is either trying to throw them off the trail or is completely naive. I'm guessing just trying to cover for what he surely knows is in full force.

Old Post Cards And Newspaper Clippings (Algoma/Door County

Here are some old scans of post cards and newspaper clippings/articles. These are from items collected over many years.

Door County Advocate from the early 1980s. I'm thinking 1981-82. They were debating opening Chub fishing further North.

Re: Archived Pictures Mostly The Big Burgers 60s 70s

They are original in design. You can look at one and know it's a Burger right away. Like a great artist or musician with a distinct style they have a trademark look and are quickly identified as a Burger. There were other builders who made great boats,, some maybe even build heavier but they weren't...

Invasive Species In The Great Lakes.

Too many over the years. Some sites say 25 species since the 1800s and some say as many as 180 including plant and microbial life.

Re: Strangest Things You've Had In Your Nets?

We lifted down a gang of chub nets one time and every 20 or 30ft a different odd thing came up the ones I remember were, a can of beans, a shoe and some kind of deoderant. It looked as if some crewman on a freighter had emptied out the quarters of another sailor and thrown everything overboard. I'll...

Strangest Things You've Had In Your Nets?

Everybody gets something odd in their nets from time to time. I wonder what other fishermen have come across? We've had roughly 15 of those gray missle/rocket things over the years. The ones that are about 5ft long. I've heard it said that they're launched from the Great Lakes Naval Academy in Wauke...

Adrift Off Of Sheboygan.

This is a story told to me as a boy in the mid to late 70s. The teller (Leo) was the owner of the boat and was aboard at the time. The crew was just him and an elderly man he had working for him. I have no reason to doubt the story as Leo was not one to ever brag or exaggerate, Leo bought a weathere...
