fishing has slowed down on the northern part of lake michigan, we have had heavy ice in fairport for the last few weeks, with only one tug fishing there it has been a chore just to reach open water. took us 3 hrs tuesday to make it through 1 mile of shove ice east of fairport, as far as i know, all ...

This article was from 1912, george was my great grandpa, his grandpa started fishing on st. martins island in the early part of the 1800's and they moved to the mainland around the 1850's moving atleast 3 houses across the ice with them, some still stand in fairport to this day.

The Debbie D is in fairport, its a 40x11 burger built in 1945 for herman frietag of kenosha, originaly named JOEL, it went to lake superior in the 60's then it was down in ludington mi in the late 70's through early 80's owned by tribal fisherman bob peterson, he sold it to todd preseau cheyboygan m...
