the lelond lafond and the oliver h smith were both built in kewaunee the same year, from plans drawed up by walter haertel, according to andy they were built at same time only in different yards of kewaunee engineering, the lelond has a heavier keel, and steel decks, the oliver has wooden decks, and a cummins diesel, the lelond still has its original 1944 model me 150 murphy diesel, with the original twin disc mg 200 attached to it, also has a 4 1/4 inch shaft, that turns a 46x38 stainless prop, the motor still runs great and is very good on fuel.

She's a grand ol' gal. I have fond memories of fishing Chubs the Winter of 2003/2004 with Andy LaFond on the Lelond. She rode damn well in a sea and Andy cherished her and kept her in showboat condition. It's pretty nice that you guys kept the name Lelond LaFond. It would be hard to imagine her sailing under any other name.
