We sold it in 1995 to a tribal fisherman in cheyboygan mi, i heard it sat idle for a number of yrs and then it got scraped, the geron was another walter haertel designed fish tug, built at kewaunee engineering in 1946, the flaired bow was a design feature haertel came up with in the 40's, a major change from the boats he designed in the late 30's such as the Energy.

Thanks for the updated history on the boat.It is always sad to hear a Fish tug got scraped. After all steel is relatively cheap and not terribly hard to refit on a hull.I cannot remember if the Geron had a squared aft end like most of the other fine vessels built in Kewaunee or not. But I do know most boats built there were very seaworthy.

yes it did have a square stern, it was in tough shape when we first got it, so we resheeted about 8 ft in the stern, it had a 671 gm in it, with a manual clutch, as far as i know it was the only 40 ft fish tug built at kewaunee engineers, the lelond lafond is the second walter haertel designed fish tug we have had, he sure designed a good riding tug ( if there ever was such a thing )
